What went through Steve’s mind when he fell into the icy water.

The image that really got me was this one

I imagined them dreaming of me.

A pregnant Sarah Rogers touching her belly while her husband holds tiny baby clothes for the yet to be born Steve. It’s cute, touching and a happy moment between a couple that is eagerly awaiting for their child. It also conveys feelings of sadness, especially when you know that the Rogers don’t necessarily get a happy ending. A few years later Joseph will die of Influenza leaving Sarah and Steve, who will then face financial problems and threats of eviction. They will become poor and Sarah will slowly kills herself with work to support herself and Steve. Sarah will then die of pneumonia and Steve will end up alone.

But for that moment, in Steve’s mind, they are dreaming of him and they are happy.
